We all have our WHY we scheduled our first massage therapy appointment – but we often don’t realize just how important it will become in our long term health care plan. I experienced my first professional massage because it was a requirement to start school. I never even had one before signing up to become a massage therapist! Soon after that I injured my back, and I got to see firsthand how massage can help us in the healing process. In the many years since then, I have never questioned my decision to have routine massage be a part of my health care plan. My practitioner and I may focus on something different each session – sometimes a specific pain, sometimes excess stress – but what never changes is that feeling when I walk out of the studio. I am recentered, both body and mind. I am ready and excited to reach for my goals and challenge myself in all aspects of life.
Before experiencing massage for myself though, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you a single reason why I would want to add it to my monthly budget. While you know your reason, maybe it’s hard to get across to your friends and family, especially those who have never had a professional massage session. This month’s newsletter is all about how massage therapy works and who will benefit from it (sneak peak: just about everyone!). Maybe you’ll find a tip or two to help explain why it is such a big part of your general wellbeing. Not to mention, if you’ve been searching for that perfect holiday gift, maybe you’ll find it in massage!
